Nail Technician: Program Outline  

NT101 HIV / AIDS

(4 Hours)

Education on the transmission, control, treatment and prevention of HIV and AIDS; discussion of attitudes and behavior in dealing with individuals who may have the virus or syndrome; explanation of Board requirements regarding license renewal and completion of the Board approved education course on HIV and AIDS.



NT402 FLORIDA LAWS

(5 Hours)

All Rules as set forth by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 477, Cosmetologist Licensures and Operations.

 

NT403 PROFESSIONAL IMAGE, ETHICS IN EMPLOMENT PROCEDURES, SALON SAFETY AND MANAGEMENT

(25 Hours)

How to have a professional image and have an understanding of the ergonomic principles with how to have correct posture and movements. Become knowledgeable in ethical procedures, learn how to seek employment and how to have the knowledge of salon product safety.

 

NT404 NAILS & SKIN DISORDERS AND DISEASES

(15 Hours)

Identify and recognize the various disorders and diseases of the nail in order to determine if the client should be treated in the salon.

 

NT405 INFECTION CONTROL, HYGIENE AND BACTERIOLOGY

(15 Hours / 95 Services)

Learning good hygiene, sanitation, safety measures and bacteriology; have knowledge of the important factors of maintaining proper sanitation.

 

NT406 MANICURE

(20 Hours / 20 Services)

Will become familiar with the equipment, cosmetics and materials to be able to provide a manicure; will learn the procedures and safety of properly providing a manicure, including a Spa manicure.

 

NT407 PEDICURE

(10 Hours / 10 Services)

Will become familiar with the equipment, cosmetics and materials to be able to provide a pedicure; will learn the procedures and safety of properly providing a pedicure, including a Spa pedicure.

 

NT408 NAIL CARE FOR ARTIFICIAL AND NATURAL

(131 Hours / 55 Services)

Will obtain familiarity with the equipment, cosmetics and materials with the various wraps on the nails. Will learn the procedures of how to repair the natural nail with wraps or mending, as well as how to properly place plastic extension tips - plus the removal of artificial nails. WIll learn techniques and procedures of how to apply liquid monomer and polymer powder. Will learn the various forms of sculpturing and UV applications for the nails, along with the chemistry, maintenance, procedures and ingredients of the various products used.

 

NT409 POLISHING AND NAIL ART

(15 Hours / 10 Services)

Introduction to the vast variety of the nails art form, which includes nail design. Learn how to utilize the air brushing machine to be able to offer clients an array of nail art designs.


 

 

All hours and services are those required by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation.
