Makeup Artist And Skin Care: Program Outline  

MU101 HIV / AIDS

(4 Hours)

Education on the transmission, control, treatment and prevention of HIV and AIDS; discussion of attitudes and behavior in dealing with individuals who may have the virus or syndrome; explanation of Board requirements regarding license renewal and completion of the Board approved education course on HIV and AIDS.

 

MU302 FLORIDA LAWS

(5 Hours)

All Rules as set forth by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 477, Cosmetologist Licensures and Operations.

 

MU303 FACIAL TECHNIQUES AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

(100 Hours / 45 Services)

Performing facials manually and mechanically, including masks, packs or treatments which must be applied on a variety of skin types including normal, oily, dry, combination, problem and mature, as well as its contraindications.

 

MU304 MAKEUP, EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS

(50 Hours / 20 Services)

Basic makeup application to transition from a day to night look; variation of eyelash techniques including strip, individual and semi-permanent lashes; eyebrow and eyelash tinting techniques and procedures.

 

MU305 HAIR REMOVAL

(23 Hours / 20 Services)

The morphology of hair and its growth stages, different hair removal methods and the conditions that contraindicates hair removal.

 

MU306 ETHICS IN BUSINESS SKILLS AND CAREER PLANNING

(12 Hours)

Will learn how to achieve business skills by career planning in the skin care field, the basic principles of selling products, customer relations and telephone techniques.

 

MU307 SANITATION AND STERILIZATION

(10 Hours / 100 Services)

Infection and disease control for the makeup artist and skin care specialist; the methods of equipment sterilization, cleaning, health and safety in practical use - as per the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), safety procedures are part of the on-going curriculum throughout all specific subject areas.

 

MU308 THEORY OF DISEASES AND DISORDERS OF THE SKIN

(73 Hours)

Analyze skin diseases and disorders; identify the various skin conditions that will effect the process of performing and determining the type of facial. 

 

MU309 BASICS OF ELECTRICITY AND MACHINES

(15 Hours / 5 Services)

Knowledge of the nature of electricity, types of electric current, electrotherapy and their uses, facial machines and how to use them safely.

 

MU310 PRODUCT CHEMISTRY

(8 Hours)

How the various chemistry and its branches, acids, alkaline, and P.H., affect product chemistry components; how to safely use a variety of products.
