Knowing Which Skincare Products are Right for You

Using the wrong skincare products can have devastating impacts that you may not even notice. The first step in making sure you are using the right product is to first judge what type of skin you have, as each type requires different care. The common skin types are normal, oily, and combination oily and dry.

Normal skin is the easiest to care for. This type of skin is soft to the touch and does not leave an oily residue. To maintain this condition, avoid harsh products that will dry the skin out.

Oily skin is prone to acne and breakouts. A simple test to determine if you have oily skin is to dab your face with a tissue in the morning before you wash. If you find residue, you may have oily skin. Search for skincare products that are water based and come in gel form as opposed to lotion to prevent future breakouts. Clay and sandalwood powder packs along with a mild scrubber also help to reduce the oily appearance.

The most common skin type, combination skin, has dry areas and oily areas. To test for this type, use the same method as testing for oily skin, but dab in several areas to compare. If this is your skin type, use a mild cleanser on the entire face. Use astringent on the oily areas and moisturizers on the dry areas to achieve a balanced look.

To find the skincare products that best suit your needs, online shopping locations provide an extensive selection. Continuing education in cosmetology can help you to reach maximum skin health and beauty.
